This Privacy Policy explains how ogu ("ogu," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the ogu mobile app. ogu is developed and operated by an individual developer, not a registered company. If you have questions, contact ogu.support@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: the email address and password you use to create and sign in to your account. Passwords are stored in hashed form and are never visible to us in plain text.
- Messages: the content of messages you send and receive through the app, so they can be delivered and stored in your message history.
- Photos: images you choose to capture or upload and send within the app. We only access your camera or photo library when you actively use that feature.
- Push notification data: a device token used to deliver notifications about new messages. This token is not personally identifying on its own.
- Basic device and usage data: standard technical information (such as app version and device type) needed to keep the app running and to diagnose problems.
How we use this information
- To create and maintain your account and let you sign in
- To deliver, store, and display your messages and photos within the app
- To send push notifications about activity relevant to you
- To maintain the security and reliability of the service
- To respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages or photos for advertising.
Where your data is stored
Account, message, and photo data is stored using Supabase, a third-party backend and database provider. Push notifications are delivered through the notification service built into the platform ogu is built with (Expo). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own security and data-handling practices.
Sharing of information
We do not share your personal information with third parties except:
- With service providers who help us operate the app (such as Supabase for data storage and our push notification provider), solely to provide that service
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ogu or its users
- If you direct us to, such as by sending a message or photo to another user
Your choices and rights
- You can edit your account information from within the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting ogu.support@gmail.com. We will delete your data within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain it by law.
- You can disable push notifications at any time from your device settings.
Data retention
We retain your account information and messages for as long as your account is active, so the app can function as intended. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal or security reasons.
Children's privacy
ogu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including relying on our infrastructure providers' security practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the app.
